Perennial German Bundesliga contenders and 2024 UEFA Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund are hoping their new home kits for 2024-25 will go down as a modern classic.
The club unveiled the new kits on Friday, May 17, and will wear them in their Bundesliga season finale on Saturday, May 18, when they hose SV Darmstadt 98.
The shirt is predominantly yellow — Borussia Dortmund’s traditional home kit color — with four sets of vertical pinstripes down the front of the shirt. Each set of pinstripes has one wider stripe flanked by two narrower ones. The sleeves are solid black, as is the crew neck collar. “The timeless pinstripe look combines tradition with the present and a look into the future,” the club’s website says (translated to English by Google).
Along with the new kit comes a new font for names and numbers on the back of the kit. Unlike other domestic leagues in Europe, the Bundesliga doesn’t have a standard league font.
ACF FIORENTINA — Home
Italian Serie A side ACF Fiorentina are leaning hard into their signature purple color for their 2024-25 home kits, made by Kappa. The kit is all purple, from the polo collar to the hem, with a very subtle pattern of parallelograms woven into the fabric. Other textures can be found on the sleeve cuffs and collar. The Kappa logos on the chest and shoulders are white, as is the sponsor logo on the chest.
BOLOGNA FC — Home
Meanwhile, Fiorentina’s Serie A counterparts Bologna FC are calling their new home kits for 2024-25 “an act of love” that celebrates their journey in recent years that has taken them into the UEFA Champions League next season. They’ll wear the new kits in their last home match of the Serie A season on Monday against Juventus.
The kit features Bologna’s traditional red and blue vertical stripes, but wide enough that there are only two of each on the front of the shirt. The crew neck collar is blue with red trim, and the sleeve cuffs are red with a blue stripe through the center. Gold trim is found on the back hem and on a triangular insert on the back of the collar where the slogan “WE ARE ONE” is written.
ATHLETIC BILBAO — Away
Spanish La Liga side Athletic Club Bilbao are going with the flow with their away kits for 2024-25, made by New Balance. The blue kits with a tonal pattern on the front and back are meant to evoke the River Nervión, which flows through Bilbao. “A symbol for the city and club, it’s the place where Athletic players celebrate their greatest triumphs aboard the renowned ‘Gabarra’, just as they did this past April” when they won the Copa del Rey, the club’s website says. The raglan sleeves are solid blue, and the V-neck collar is white with red dots on the outer edge. A white insert on the back collar containing a graphic of the Basque flag inside a lion’s head.
